THE GREAT SCHLEP

It's not that events from the weekend haven't found themselves full circle. Because they have. One happened earlier today during my shoemaking class at the Jewish Community Center. My teacher told me to "schlep" nailing in three inch nails into my last and to get four inch ones instead. I said ,"what does that mean?" to which she raised her head and explained a matter of factly that it meant " to stop." But according to an online dictionary it means I could be an awkward or stupid person, to pull along heavily like a sack of potatoes against a resistance, or a difficult journey. I have accepted all answers. It was kind of funny because the other day while walking down Bedford Ave, a woman passing out pamphlets stopped to ask me if I might be Jewish. Both these incidents were my closest experiences to being Jewish. Though shortlived and quite trivial, watching this Sarah Silverman thing made me long to have a cute nana with big hair.
