WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
Theres nothing at all
But what a fool believes he sees...- Doobie Bros.

“You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.”-Jack London

It's so fucking cold in my apartment. New Years Day 2009, the frigid, depressive, New York City Winter winds, have finally penetrated through the aged sealant cracks in my bedroom windows, as well as the vulnerable, post hang over cracks in my mind. What was once the world's noisiest heating pipe, is now the building's only non-working one. Every muscle in my body, sore, tense, cold, and unmotivated. A vague reference to a plumber in a few days by an unresponsive land lord, leaves me even sorer.

Somewhere in an unseen dimension, my mind is hanging off of a jagged cliff, wondering where in the void it will land. I'm probably wearing a t shirt and ripped jeans, because even the weather in this imaginary metaphor is more forgiving. The void is untraceable, with no apparent up or down, just bad breath and a good playlist. A very good playlist that when I wrap myself in plastic and hope nobody ever finds I will bring with me. I wish that blowing my nose could keep me warm and leave me with positive thoughts, but it doesn't. It just makes me dizzier and more frustrated with my growing pessimism.

But I don't have to be here, in this apartment. Legs crossed Indian styled, plopped on a sandy ottoman, hidden by a striped blanket, convinced I am too immobile to turn on a room light, and too weak to look past rising inner doubts. So I remain in the dark, a beckoning medley of Red corduroy and hand woven, tufted, sequenced yellow and black letters, that spell out "Aloha 2009" garners little attention in a vacated room.

LAST POST OF 2008

THE YEAR 2008 CAME AND WENT, AND NOW IT'S TIME TO GET QUESTIONABLY WASTED AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. ETERNALLY WONDERING WHERE AND HOW TIME FLIES, BUT IN THE END, THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A BIG PARTY WITH FRIENDS AND STRANGERS WHERE A DROPPING BALL WILL ALWAYS SIGNIFY A NEW BEGINNING. THINKING ABOUT THE BETTER DAYS THAT LIE AHEAD. HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!!!!!

TOTAL LABRICITY
