I don't really understand why some people think it's okay to make racist Asian jokes. I guess in a way it's easier to say racist things about Asian people because collectively, Asians have survived in America by being typically passive about offensive shit. So logically if you were to choose a race to make fun of, you'd pick the one where you'd statistically be less likely to get your ass beat. So I guess in a sense, when you see stand up comedians doing their Asian language impressions or whatever, they're just doing it because it's easier to make an Asian joke because our eyes are all funny looking and shit. And since every other race on Earth does not possess the strange eye slant of the Oriental, everyone else can easily laugh at that hilarious, unifying, thought.
But then again when the internet tries to tell me that racism is dead, or that racism is a relic of the past, I distrust it. For the past month I've seen little articles about about this 19 year old kid from Chinatown who joined the army only to be victimized and eventually shot in the head by his racist superiors on tour. According to the article he was singled out and tormented almost every day while he was there. Eight soldiers were charged in his death. I can't imagine having to fight the fucking taliban in the middle of the desert, while enduring racial slur abuse from eight other American soldiers. He was called things like "gook", "dragon lady".. Not sure why they would call him a dragon lady as clearly he is a male. Dragon Lady sounds pretty dated- I'm sure a 1930's East Asian stereotype is very pleased it's making the headlines again in 2012.
Fuck all these god damn racists. What a bunch of life ruiners. They can take all their antiquated Asian stereotypes and shoot themselves in the round eyes. By the way..
ROUND EYE: Slang invented by GIs during the Korean War and later popularized by Hollywood as a slang used by Asians and Asian Americans to describe the "white man" or Americans of European racial background. The claim that Asians or Asian Americans use this slang to refer to "white" folks is completely without merit. This slang is primarily used by White Americans and never by Asian Americans.
