Wow. Got recommended to see this movie, "Beasts of the Southern Wild" by two separate friends and because "The Dark Knight" in IMAX was sold out tonight, figured I had to see this anyway. It's main character is this five year old girl who exudes this confidence and stalks through the movie like no other 5 year old I've ever seen. I read that the main characters- the girl and the father, are both untrained actors with no previous experience. That's pretty rad. Especially since I pretty much found myself reduced to tears at least three times during the movie. I am not above a good public crying, especially when masked by the quivering sobs of other patrons in my row. It was like bawler's row and I was the lead trumpet. This movie displays the heartbeat of a down trodden, fringe community in rural Louisiana. Because there is so much great imagery and moments in the story, it's hard not to get into it. In true New Orleans fashion, this movie is a reaffirming visual celebration of life against all odds..
Galliano for Givenchy 1996. So cool. Fashion shows can be a bit redundant to watch, catwalk, blah. But there is so much going on here I find it quite enjoyable; especially the first half. The draped black curtains, the Spanish influence and detail, pant suits, and subdued color play that slowly becomes infused with this upbeat 90's funky town element. It really is like watching theatre.
