Every now and then some shitty company like Urban Outfitters will produce some racist/fucked up merchandise that demeans Native American people, history, and culture. But I've always wondered what the technical litigations were that surrounded why the industry is able to perpetually revive the infamous "Native" trend. And clearly it extends beyond the trend. There are staple American product and franchises that also enlist the "Native" caricature and stereotype which have been around forever. Well. I finally found an article that explains all of that. So next time you start to wonder how the law in America enables this brand of racism, you'll know.
